Raphael Zenie came to Furniture Design through Fashion. Born in 1965, he graduated from the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne in 1985 and obtained his Master’s Degree from the Domus Academy in Milan in 1986.
In 1989, following a collaboration with Verri Uomo in Milan, he returned to Paris and started, along with his sister Marianne, his own ready to wear line with sales in Paris, New York and Osaka. In 1991 he was awarded best designer at “La Nuit des Jeunes Createurs” and in 1992 was invited to exhibit at “Mode et Liberte” at the Musee des Arts Decoratifs.
In 1996, after working on an assignment at the Union Centrale des Arts Decoratifs, he created objects for Artcodif. In 1997 he decided to join his family’s textile business in the United-States where he worked on research and development. It is then that he was given the opportunity to design furniture and free lance on different projects including a licensed furniture line for the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios. His designs have been featured in the Neiman Marcus home catalog and are part of the Brunschwig & Fils furniture line.
He is developing his own line of accent pieces and working on different residential interior decorating projects.
